Complete, non-casual
You got ideas for improving the explanation of what a complete or non-casual (or incomplete or casual ^^) game is? --qubodup 19:32, 29 January 2008 (CET)
Ideas for games to be added
- Lincity NG
- Project Starfighter (if Metal Blob Solid is considered, so this should be too)
- Sauerbraten is pretty solid and non-casual these days
Marathon Aleph One
Not sure if the graphics are modern enough, but Matharon is a complete game nonetheless. --FreeGamer 19:46, 21 February 2008 (CET)
- Graphics suck, but that's probably no criterium.. I started playing it, died soon.. if someone has played it and thinks it deserves to be listed, please fill it in! --qubodup 13:54, 23 February 2008 (CET)
Metal Blob Solid
Yes, it's a simple 2D platformer/shooter, but it's a good one. :) [Note: Some people say it uses non-free content.] And unlike Supertux it's finished and playable. Since it has a progressive story, good level design, good graphics and a good lifetime I consider it non-casual. KIAaze
- Agreed, but make sure you fill in the correct media licensing info --qubodup 21:55, 25 February 2008 (CET)
Privateer: Gemini Gold
PGG is complete and playable. The latest version replaced some rather garish low res screens with hires versions, making it a very nice game. --FreeGamer 17:02, 21 February 2008 (CET)
- Never played it and not my type of game. If you know that it's complete, go on. --qubodup 13:54, 23 February 2008 (CET)
Quake 1, 2, & 3
While originally commercial games, the source for all three games have been released. It does fit the criteria to be on this list (the media is still non-free though) --Fydo 23:04, 25 February 2008 (CET)
- Hm. Any ideas on how to change the criteria? Because I'm not for listing games, which are not free as in beer. --qubodup 23:48, 25 February 2008 (CET)
- I've made a change to the criteria that I think will exclude any non "free as in beer" games. Let me know what you think? --Fydo 00:27, 26 February 2008 (CET)
- Pretty good I say. :) --qubodup 00:45, 26 February 2008 (CET)
- Aren't the demo versions of Id games as complete as Valve's "episodes" of Half-Life 2? --Tepples 02:44, 17 May 2008 (CEST)
Scorched 3D
Scorched 3D looks very nice these days. --FreeGamer 19:46, 21 February 2008 (CET)
- Is it playable/complete? I didn't manage to play it, always expected it to react like NWN, but it's a s&h after all.. --qubodup 13:54, 23 February 2008 (CET)
Scourge
Scourge (on SF) - watch out for the next release --FreeGamer 15:39, 30 April 2008 (CEST)
UFO:AI
UFO:AI - what was the reason for not adding this one yet? --FreeGamer 15:55, 30 April 2008 (CEST)
- Yes, it's not complete --qubodup 07:04, 1 May 2008 (CEST)
Widelands
Widelands might be a complete game. I'm not sure though. Does it have all functions like soldiers, storyline, seafaring included and is it stable? --qubodup 02:37, 30 January 2008 (CET)
- I wouldn’t say Widelands is complete. It is playable, albeit a bit buggy and missing some features. --Kess 16:46, 6 February 2008 (CET)
Already Added
Alien Arena
Alien Arena is as worthy as e.g. Warsow. --FreeGamer 19:44, 21 February 2008 (CET)
- ugh =) I think I red something somewhere about it, that it doesn't have multiplayer! --qubodup 13:54, 23 February 2008 (CET)
- That about no multiplayer was totally stupid. anyways - found info on lincense. If it's decently playable put it in. http://svn.icculus.org/alienarena/trunk/docs/license.txt?view=markup --qubodup 10:19, 7 March 2008 (CET)
- Absolutely worthy of this list--Julius 22:13, 17 June 2008 (CEST)

AssaultCube
I added AssaultCube. It can be discribed as a simpler version of counterstrike and it's very stable and very playable (It has multiple multiplayer modes too and good-enough graphics). I might be wrong though. --qubodup 13:20, 30 January 2008 (CET)
Flightgear
Now it's reached version 1.0 and is comparable to it's commercial counterparts, surely Flightgear should be there. --FreeGamer 15:27, 1 February 2008 (CET)
- I don't know anything about it, I have a mental blockade against flight sims, If you are able to fill all the gaps (at least try and don't be too lazy =) after all you're this game's fan =)) and if you're sure it's completeness is comparable to let's say... the ms flight sim or whatever, go for it. --qubodup 17:52, 1 February 2008 (CET)
- Added it. --FreeGamer 17:06, 21 February 2008 (CET)
Fish Fillets NG
I really think Fish Fillets NG should be on this list. It's complete, it looks good, and the only drawback is the speech pack is currently only available in Czech. --FreeGamer 15:17, 1 February 2008 (CET)
- I think it might count as a casual game, as it's more of a puzzle than a real game (like skoban, or whatever it's called, which is IMHO not a serious game.) Is Fish Fillets NG complete? (Does the story line end or is there some abrupth halt (which would mean incomplete.) I can't judge it, because I'm not a good puzzle gamer (at least not this game), but please explain how the game is not casual, before adding it. --qubodup 17:52, 1 February 2008 (CET)
- It's not non-casual - it's insanely difficult. It is complete. It ticks more of the boxes than most of the other games there, so I went ahead and added it. --FreeGamer 16:56, 21 February 2008 (CET)
- Easy does not mean casual. I think puzzle games are 'casual games' and AFAIK filets is a puzzle game.--qubodup 17:13, 21 February 2008 (CET)
- There's a difference between sokoban and a game with story, well crafted levels, distinctive art, and a fairly unique style of puzzle. --FreeGamer 05:04, 22 February 2008 (CET)
- If you gave skoban a story, music, art, voice and effects, would it not still be skoban? Well, no, but would it still be a puzzle game? mhhmhmhmhmmmyes. For example I tried the Drod demo and it's amazing! Super characters, super voice, looks ok but still a puzzle game. Though a totally different feeling! In any case filets will stay and some day the list will be split into genres. Because there are many 'complete' slash and hacks for example and because I want to mention hex-a-hop somewhere =) --qubodup 13:47, 23 February 2008 (CET)

FreeCol
FreeCol is very playable these days with plenty of polish and depth --FreeGamer 15:39, 30 April 2008 (CEST)
- I never finished a game session and can't tell if the bot is good, but I think this should be listed. --qubodup 07:06, 1 May 2008 (CEST)
Glest
Now Glest 3.1 is out, it is fully multiplayer and pretty complete from that perspective, with non-storyline singleplayer gameplay. --FreeGamer 17:12, 21 February 2008 (CET)
- Sounds good. I won't be able to test it too soon though.--qubodup 17:20, 21 February 2008 (CET)
No Gravity
Now this has to qualify, No Gravity is very well done and well presented, has pretty much everything you like to see in a game. --FreeGamer 17:24, 21 February 2008 (CET)
- Never was able to run it :( your choice :) --qubodup 13:54, 23 February 2008 (CET)
Simutrans
Simuntras (community) is a complete game and, unlike OpenTTD, open source. --FreeGamer 21:04, 26 February 2008 (CET)
- How is OpenTTD not open source? Isn't it just an engine? About Simutrans, last time I checked it was not very playable. And IIRC the KI was insane. Don't know what the status of the game is now. --qubodup 00:20, 27 February 2008 (CET)
- OpenTTD requires the TTD data files which are (at best) abandonware. Simutrans has all-Free media. --FreeGamer 18:21, 6 April 2008 (CEST)
- True, OpenTTD as a game isn't free as in software and even not free as in beer. The question is whether simutrans is playable. --qubodup 10:26, 7 April 2008 (CEST)
- OpenTTD requires the TTD data files which are (at best) abandonware. Simutrans has all-Free media. --FreeGamer 18:21, 6 April 2008 (CEST)
Torcs
Torcs is pretty complete these days --FreeGamer 03:08, 3 May 2008 (CEST)
Tremulous
I added Tremulous, although it has no official bots, only one game mode, no music, no single-player or story. It's multi-player mode is very complex though and makes up for missing alternative game modes. --qubodup 12:57, 30 January 2008 (CET)
Vega Strike
Vega Strike is about as complete as FOSS games come with a wide array of impressive ships, a huge never-ending style of game, and it looks great too --FreeGamer 15:19, 30 April 2008 (CEST)
World of Padman
I never was able to run it. Will try right now, but am not very optimistic. Maybe someone can add it (if s/he thinks that it's 'complete'? --qubodup 17:17, 8 February 2008 (CET)
- It's definitely complete, and by far the most polished presentation of any open source game out there. I think it should be added. --FreeGamer 16:57, 21 February 2008 (CET)
Non-network multiplayer?
From the table legend:
- 5Single-player mode, more than MP with bots 6Network multi-player mode
Why is there no column for a non-network multi-player mode, where each player holds one gamepad and all players look at a single large monitor? Or are most games with such a mode "casual"? --Tepples 19:27, 16 May 2008 (CEST)
